Rooted is Sri Lanka’s first food and culture-led publication, exploring the people, places and flavours shaping the island today. From home kitchens and roadside eateries to restaurants and bars, we document what is being cooked, poured and shared across Sri Lanka and the stories connected to them. A neighbourhood rice and curry sits as comfortably as a contemporary tasting menu because both belong to the same evolving food landscape.
Each issue is built around a central theme and brought to life through features, essays, conversations and photography designed to be collected and kept. Through print, digital and film, Rooted documents Sri Lanka through its kitchens, communities and culture.
Rooted’s inaugural issue is supported by a select group of founding partners who believe in independent food and culture storytelling in Sri Lanka.
